Beyond the Rainforest | A Podcast About Indigenous Peoples Across the Americas and Beyond

Beyond the Rainforest in the new podcast from Dr. Darren R. Reid about Indigenous histories, lives, and perspectives.
With this podcast I aim to introduce listeners to wide variety of topics concerning Indigenous histories and the issues that so many Indigenous peoples face today. This podcast aims to help you to learn about new cultures and peoples, many of whom you may not have encountered –or even heard of– before. It aims to be a space where you can be introduced to Indigenous voices and histories, as well as a space where I can share some of my own experiences working with, and learning from, Indigenous peoples, from Brazil and Latin America, to the United States and Canada. My goal with this podcast is to provide a program what will help you to learn about the issues facing Indigenous peoples, learning about new cultures and histories different to your own, as well as providing a platform where we can hear directly from Indigenous activists about the issues that affect their communities.
The podcast is part of a wider project –Beyond the Rainforest: The Kaingang Oral History Project– that connects people in the Global North with firsthand accounts, histories, and teachings from the Indigenous Kaingang people of South America. This resource is constantly evolving and is free to access. You can start exploring the Beyond the Forest Project by clicking here. You can also view one of the project’s short films below:
